Rebecca Kranias is a certified and licensed foot
reflexologist. She has been practicing for 10 years and is
currently a member of the Reflexology Registration Council of
Ontario.
What is Reflexology and what are its benefits?
Reflexology is a relaxing complementary therapy that facilitates
the natural healing processes of the body. It is an ancient
healing therapy that has been practiced in India, Egypt and China
for over 2000 years. Reflexology is now popular in the western
world as a form of preventative health care.
Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflexes in
the feet which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the
body. For example, if the ball of the foot is tender, it may
indicate a problem or weakness in the lungs.
During treatment, the therapist will stimulate all the foot
reflexes by applying gentle pressure to your feet. This action
helps to clear energy blockages and encourages energy to flow freely
throughout your body. Reflexology treatments facilitate deep
relaxation, improved circulation and detoxification.
People with the following conditions can benefit from regular
reflexology sessions:
stress, fatigue, poor circulation, insomnia, nervous tension,
allergies, digestive problems, depression, menopausal problems and
prostate problems.

Whatever style you
practice, yoga will improve circulation, concentration, strength and
flexibility.
"Power" yoga develops upper body and
core strength and lower body and spinal flexiblity and can be used in
preparing the cardiovascular system and muscles for peak performance.
More gentle yoga can be practiced to rejuvenate after hard training and
competition. But
more than this, yoga invites awareness and understanding of our minds,
bodies and actions.
Focus, visualization and self understanding can
help train the mind for competition and to improve confidence and focus.

The hips are a major joint in the body used constantly in our daily
lives. They are the centre of movement. They provide balance and
stability, connecting the upper and lower body. They are a key part
of our well being. It is in the hips that we carry our own weight as
well as, the weight of the world. The hips are a holding site
for our feelings and memories connected to security, survival,
communication, and relationships. The hips allow us to move in the
world and tell us how we feel about it. Throughout this series of
workshops, we will explore the movement of the hips, our connections
to this area, working gradually to release both physical and
emotional tension, learning about ourselves in the process. This
workshop is for practitioners of all levels.
